After the hustle and bustle of the summer, autumn in Door County is the season for winding down while enjoying the cool breeze and the vibrant hues of green, blue, and fiery orange all around you.

For many years, Door County, Wisconsin has been the go-to weekend getaway in the Midwest. A mere four-hour drive north of Chicago, Door County boasts 298 miles of coastline with stunning views of aquamarine waters of Lake Michigan on the east and Green Bay on the west.home with fall festivites design like Jack O' Lanterns

Pumpkin Patch Festival at Egg Harbor (October 6 – 7)

There’s nothing more autumnal than pumpkins, and Egg Harbor’s Pumpkin Patch Festival takes this to the next level. You and your family can enjoy carnival rides, live music, food and refreshments, and of course, scarecrow and pumpkin displays. You can also bring home a piece of Door County from the event’s arts and craft vendors.

Fall Fun Fest & Cider Pressing Party at Washington Island (October 6 – 7)

Bring apples or buy a bucket locally to press them on the antique cider press for your own apple cider at Washington Island’s Farm Museum. Children can also enjoy games and horse-drawn wagon rides throughout this sweet weekend.

Sister Bay Fall Fest at Sister Bay (October 12 – 14)

Dubbed as the “Granddaddy” of all Door County festivals, Sister Bay’s Fall Festival began as a celebratory reward for the county’s tourist workers after a hectic summer season. Now, it’s one of the largest weekend celebrations in the peninsula and goes on from Friday to Sunday. Here, you can enjoy live entertainment, an arts and crafts fair, food and refreshment booths, and a parade. There are also many children’s activities so that the whole family can enjoy this weekend at Sister Bay.

Door County Fall 50 (October 20)

If you’re looking for a fun weekend challenge, this year’s Door County Fall 50 is for you. The event website’s tagline is “Scenic Run, Epic Fun,” perfectly describing the 50-mile run along Door County’s western shoreline. You can run solo or with two to five team members and celebrate your success with an awarding ceremony and party at sunset.
